NICK MARCELINO 1920 - 1999Ibz2.jpg (15997 bytes)

Nick Marcelino was born February 1, 1920 in Salerno, Italy. His family moved to Philadephia when he was 18 months old. He lived there until he joined the Marines at age 19. His duties would take him to Guadalcanal where he would eventually be awarded two Purple Hearts.

After six months of recuperating in a San Francisco Naval Hospital Nick went to Hollywood for a ten day leave. Many turns of events led him to a Hollywood party where he met Hal Wallis who invited him on-set at Warner Bros. After returning to San Francisco he was discharged and returned to Philadelphia. Six weeks later he received a letter from Warner Bros. offering him a position in their Make-up department as an apprentice for Mr. Perc Westmore. While at Warner Bros. he met Gerry O’Steen and they soon married.

In 1948 Nick started working for Universal Studios with Mr. Bud Westmore as his assistant and eventually became the department head. Nick retired from Universal Studios in 1981.

Nick is survived by his wife Gerry, daughters Candy Artmont, married to make-up artist Steve Artmont, Nancy Sharp, married to make-up artist Rick Sharp, grandchildren Christian Sharp, Nicole and Peter Artmont. Nick died at his Toluca Lake home of lymphoma on June 18, 1999.
