Universal Studios Hollywood: Colonial Street - the street the dogs escape from the van onto.

Universal Studios Hollywood: The garden and the back of the Newton's house (and their neighbours) was built for this movie and still exists at the top of the Universal backlot. It's now overgrown, but the shells of the houses built for this movie are still in place.

Above Falls Lake - Beethoven Houses

The main backyard sets for the movie (see stills below) were built on grass land just above Falls Lake in an area that's off the main route of the Studio Tour tram.
The sets are still there to this day, but are more overgrown now. The main Newton House set was designed / painted to match the front of the family residence, which was filmed on location in South Pasadena at 1405 Milan Avenue (thanks to Lindsy's blog 'I Am Not A Stalker' for this information.
