"A Rock N Roll Fable", this musical adventure movie was almost entirely set at night. As night shooting can be very tough on cast and crew, a decision was taken to spend $1.5million on equipping the New York Street sets with a metal grid framework above it, which could be used to cover the whole area with a black tarpaulin, enabling the production to shoot during the day in total darkness. The framework remained in place (and was probably used for other productions) until the fire in 1990 destroyed the whole area.

When shooting began on Disney's Newsies in 1991, the grid framework was nowhere to be seen.
