Under the code name "The Genre Project" the new Indiana Jones movie has been shooting around a number of Hollywood studios. At least three Universal Studios Hollywood backlot locations were used:
- Falls Lake - Truck stunts
- Mexican Street
- Freeway Park - This large open area was the home of the Pyramid set during July/August 2007.
- Stage 27 - The cemetary where Indy and Mutt find the Crystal Skull
- Stage 29 - Indy's house
Principal photography began on June 18 and wrapped on October 11 2007. A lengthy post-production period followed with final sound mixing continuing up to April 2008.
