Stone Street Studios

The Studio complex in Miramar, Wellington houses New Zealand's only purpose built shooting stages together with extensive warehouse, production office, costume and makeup amenities, backlot and car park areas. The former paint factory was converted into studios during the pre-production phase of Lord of the Rings around 1999/2000.

The 24,500 square foot "Kong" stage is on a par with the biggest and best sound stages in Hollywood or London. It measures 229 feet by 108 feet and is 53 feet high, comes with an air handling system, 1000KVA mains supply and a grid of catwalks for set and lighting rigs at 40 feet.
