After a few years in development, this project was in pre-production in March 2013, and went into production in September 2013. Initial phase of production was at Leavesden Studios, UK. Interior tank work finished on 30 October 2013 (see photos below) Soundstage work was completed on 11 November 2013. The production then moved to the Canary Islands for location shooting on open water.
