Welcome, I know you will love the history of Colonial Street. It has changed quite a few times but the core sets are still there, even is they look different. There are great photos on this site that I know you will enjoy and I hope that you are someday able to make it out here to California as well as see some of the great movies and television series that were filmed at Universal.

I've got a question for you... I'm very interested in the house that burned down in the pilot of Desperate Housewives... I think (i'm not sure) it was situated here:

Other than in the pilot, I have not seen this set before. I know there was an empty lot for quite a while in that area (next to the house built for Providence). If I am thinking correctly, this is where the house from "The Burbs" was built and blown-up.

Thanx,
William

You are correct on the location.

Here is an image which shows a model of the house during preproduction.

The House was place in about the same location as this house from Burbs.
Production Summer 1988 - Shows burb's street layout without the Hubbard and beaver houses.

Not strictly relevant to this thread, but there's a couple of new photos of Colonial Street in 1982 (just after moving to the current location) at

Would You consider removing the Name:" Ron's Barn" and "Johnson" leaving the building numbers: or use the studio tour guides book names vs (the draftman's labels made in 1981 - which maybe in error)

see some alternate names used in 1981 by the tour guides. :)
Change "Dana House: to the "Bedtime for Bonzo to match the studiotour signs or" The Thrill of it All" from tour guide book page
Change " Johnson House to Hardy Boys to match the studiotour

Deanna Durbin - label is wayback to the 1940's
Nancy Drew house is more often given by the tour guides in 1981
