Entrance Gate Locations?

A while back, someone here identified this Lost World (JP2) location as the entrance gate on Lankershim in back of the studio:

Upon closer inspection however, it becomes clear that those gates do not match the ones in the film at all:

The overall structure of the booths, the curbs, the road itself and the trees all seems different than the movie scene:

So, either the gate area has been drasticly changed since 1996... OR this is not the corect location. If that's the case, I'm wondering where the gates could have been? I know there are other gates around Universal (some of which come closer to the ones in the film):

Is anyone familure with the gates around Universal? Does anyone have any ideas?

To my knowledge those gates were different in 1996 but I cannot confirm that, that is where that scene was shot. The gate area had a refurb in the lat 90's early 2000's.

Thank you for the input, Sagedrummer! It's helpful to know of the refurb. Perhaps that shot was taken there after all. Too bad I don't have any older photos of the gates back then... I guess I could try asking the workers at the gates if they knew, but it's such a quick and insignificant shot in the film (ten seconds or less)... I doubt if anyone would recal it by this point.
