The photos are amazing. I am in tears. The sets are fantastic and look like real buildings. After the fires in the '90s many of the new sets looked horrible (especially the ones around Courthouse Square).

And I love that they have recreated some of the older sets, such as the theatre on the square. They brought back the tower. And there is at least another theatre set that has been rebuilt (probably for the 2nd or 3rd time).

SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!

what is a little weird is (well it seems to me) when you make a right and there is a church and a yellow big wall it looks like you are turnig right to go in king kong but your going down a street.

I totally agree with frenchjr25 - the sets look amazing!
Thanks for those pics - I'm heading to USH in April (22 - 28th if anyone's around) so will add loads to the new website then.
Gaptoothed - is it OK if I use some of your photos on the site?

Best wishes for happy new year celebrations!

Postby universalstonecutter » Thu Dec 31, 2009 5:42 am

Enjoyed four differnet versions of the Private tour. I will post after jan 3, on my return home.
Over 100 photos - newyork - England sets- courthouse
Stage 1 and stage 29 - front lot
Mexican Streets - different area from the last trip.
Rumor, Sixpoints old structures will be replace of removed in 2010
Enjoyed seeing the Beaver House, it is in very poor shape.
new Elm Street pictures
Wisteria Lane, they allows us to walk down the street for pictures.
The private tour was often sold out this week. It is an excellent
value. Enjoyed meeting TramDriver Bill, two other Flickr members have posted images this week.

I hope they don't demolish them. That would be so horrible! Since they are simply sets the facades could easily be moved to a new location and saved.

They really should think about getting together with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to find a solution to saving these sets instead of demolishing them. With movie ranches still in existence some of them could be moved.

They could also partner with Warner Bros. to move some of the sets to the Ranch. It's not that far away and there is plenty of room.

Both studios could easily partner with the Historic Trust and work towards saving things that are an important part of our cultural heritage.

Wow! Amazing! :D
...but I don't understand a thing: They are doing a copy of Warner's palace. Why? The courthouse is very similar now:

I know. It does not make a lot of sense. Without the top portion and putting back the original stone veneer audience would have had no real idea it was used in Back To The Future.

They did a nice job but it's not the same and could have been. It seems like there is this whole idea to obliterate everything that people might recognize (i.e. Wisteria Lane and not Six Point Texas).

This is why there needs to be a place to move these sets that will save them and find a new use for them. They are cultural landmarks.
