Vintage Tram Tour Video on Youtube

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, and if it has, I apologize. Check out this great 8mm amateur footage from Universal, most of which is from the tram tour. Great shots of the Runaway Train and the original JAWS shark. GREAT stuff.

Great footage. The notes on YouTube say that footage was shot in July of 1976... which was the first time I also visited Universal. It brings back a lot of memories for me. :D

The majority of that stuff is gone so glad to see it was saved via film footage.

Was that the wooden shack (aka building) that the tram would drive thur and you could see paintings, and props behind the chicken wire that was on the lower lot, and burnt back in the 92 fire.

The tram drove through the prop warehouse located on the Lower Lot. I did not burn in the '92 fire. They built the Edith Head building to replace this prop warehouse. The ET Adventure was built on the warehouse site.

Prop Plaza was the 2nd Intermission after you experienced the Collapsing Bridge.

no prop plaza is where you get off the tram again and you can play or purchase food or relax then get on the tram again. I miss getting off the tram and going to do the six million dollar man stuff. good times. prop plaza is still there but not as it once was... i dont know what they use it for now.

Prop Plaza is up the hill from the entrance to the Collapsing Bridge. It is now used for Exterior House sets for Parenthood. Before that it was used as Base Camp for Desperate Housewives. The only time I have ever driven a Tram up there was during training - STEEP climb!

Well I do recall a wooden shack that was like a barn a bit on a dirt road. There was a few large paintings most notable used in 60's and 70's tv shows.

I remember you had things on top level and loaded the tram in the lower level when you were done in prop plaza. I remember they had the rocks that they would use for the rock slide and you can pick up. we used to have pictures from there but since both parents are gone i dont know where they have gone...
