Welcome to the beginnings of a site about Cardington Hangars in Bedfordshire, UK.
Built during the First World War for Airship construction, the hangars at Cardington have recently been put to good use to house the cavernous sets for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight by Warner Bros.
The production company worked at the site for 10 months to prepare the run-down structure for use as a massive soundstage.

The amount of floor space available (146,160 sq feet) is almost 3.5 times the size of the largest soundstage available in Hollywood, and is most 2.5 times the size of the largest soundstage in Europe, the 007 Stage at Pinewood.
